GREATER Western Sydney midfielder Ryan Griffen is in the frame to return from a serious ankle injury via a reserves practice match this Friday morning.
The 31-year-old has been sidelined since suffering a syndesmosis of the left ankle in the round three win over North Melbourne.
The Giants and Adelaide will hold a practice match in Adelaide for their reserves teams, less than 24 hours after the clubs meet in Thursday night's qualifying final at Adelaide Oval.
Both reserves teams failed to qualify for their respective state league finals competitions.
The Giants said Griffen would take the field for the reserves squad provided he got through training sessions on Monday night and Thursday.
The scratch match will give players who missed out on senior selection the chance to gain valuable game time and press their claims.
