North Melbourne defender Scott McMahon will be make his return to football this Saturday for the match against the Bulldogs in Ballarat.

The 24 year-old received a broken cheekbone after a collision at training with team-mate Lachie Hansen several weeks ago and has been sidelined ever since. But while he was restricted from participating in heavy contact drills, McMahon was able to keep his fitness levels up to scratch enabling him to slot straight back into the senior side.

North Melbourne has submitted a strong 29-man squad for the clash with a large proportion of valuable players back for another pre-season hit-out including Daniel Wells, Andrew Swallow, Liam Anthony, Leigh Adams, Aaron Edwards and Cruize Garlett.

Todd Goldstein is also back in to take over the premier rucking duties from Majak Daw while vice-captain Drew Petrie will have a final run before serving his one match ban in round one of the season proper.

Cam Richardson will have the opportunity to show how much he’s developed in front of a home crowd at Eureka Stadium
