BANGED-UP Greater Western Sydney ruckman Shane Mumford is on the brink of retirement despite being contracted for 2018.
Mumford, 31, missed his side's last two finals after succumbing to a left foot problem.
Furthermore, ankle and knee issues have also plagued the former Swan and Cat.
GWS list manager Craig Cameron told NAB AFL Trade Radio on Monday that Mumford's career could end.
"His body's taken a fair whack across the journey, so I think there's a few things to work through with Shane. We've still got to finalise a few specialist reports but I think there's a good chance that he might finish up," Cameron said.
Mumford has played 172 games after starting with Geelong, before moving to Sydney and being part of the 2012 premiership side.
"At stages this year, we've seen how battered his body's been and he keeps on soldiering through it. There's still a little bit to play out," Cameron said.
Rebounding defender Nathan Wilson will make his way to Fremantle, although there is a hold-up in finalising the deal, with GWS setting a high price for the 24-year-old.
"He's right at the peak of his career, so we think he's a player sort of inside the top 20. Sometimes it's hard for clubs to acquire that if they don't already have it, so we're still working through that deal," Cameron said.
The Dockers' first three selections in this year's NAB AFL Draft are Nos.5, 41 and 42 but Cameron had no issue saying a trade would eventually be done.
"We're dealing in good faith, so there's no breakdown in the deal. At some point, he'll get there," Cameron said.
The Giants also reaffirmed their desire to keep defender Adam Tomlinson.
The Victorian signed a contract to keep him at the club until the end of 2019 in February but St Kilda is one suitor chasing him.
Cameron was unmoved when asked if he would give up Tomlinson.
"No. I've probably been pretty strong on this, our position's not going to change on Adam," he said.
