Geelong’s practice game with Brisbane has been cancelled due to bad weather. Torrential rain, lightning and darkness descended upon Visy Park just before the scheduled 3pm start time.
The coaches met at around 3:15pm and decided that the conditions meant it was impossible to get the game played.
“It’s frustrating for everyone, but to play in these conditions would be of no benefit to anyone,” Geelong coach Mark Thompson said.
“We all agreed that the game should be cancelled - it was a unanimous decision.”
Geelong’s players now have a hard week on the track ahead of them.
“We’ve sent them out for a hard running session now to get something out of the day. We’ll play some type of (intra club) game on Monday to get some work into them,” Thompson said.
Ironically the game was moved from the Gold Coast to Visy Park due to a week of rain in southern Queensland.
