The AFL wishes to advise it has invited the two former greats of the Sydney Swans and Hawthorn respectively, to be the presenter of the 2014 Toyota AFL Premiership Cup to the winning club.
Since 2004, the AFL has asked a former great of the winning team to be on hand to present the premiership cup, and is delighted that Michael O’Loughlin and Jason Dunstall have accepted the AFL’s offer for this week’s Grand Final.
Sydney Swans – Michael O’Loughlin. Michael was the first player in South Melbourne /Sydney Swans’ history to reach 300 games and played a then-club record 303 games between 1995-2009. He kicked 521 goals during his career, the second most in club history. He was a member of the 2005 premiership side and was best and fairest in 1998.
Hawthorn – Jason Dunstall. Jason played 269 games for Hawthorn between 1985-98, kicking a club record 1254 goals (third-most in VFL/AFL history) and was a three-time winner of the Coleman Medal in 1988, 1989 and 1992 as leading goalkicker in the competition. He was a member of the 1986, 1988, 1989 and 1991 premiership sides, captained the club from 1995-98 and was best and fairest in 1988, 1989, 1992 and 1993. He was named in the Hawthorn team of the century and was inducted to the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2002.
