FREMANTLE skipper Nat Fyfe is on track to return from a hamstring injury against Greater Western Sydney in Canberra on Saturday but Rory Lobb may be too banged up to make it to the line.

Fyfe, who has been sidelined since straining his left hamstring in the draw with Richmond three weeks ago, trained solidly over the past week and appears a certainty to face the Giants.

Lobb was restricted to light duties at training on Wednesday after reaggravating his right shoulder injury in last week's win over West Coast.

The 29-year-old first suffered the injury in round 18 and has struggled with it since.

Longmuir said he didn't want to get into specifics when asked exactly what Lobb's shoulder injury was.

But one thing is clear - the 207cm forward won't be fully fit even if he does front up against GWS.

"He'll need to do a little bit of training to convince us and then the decision comes down to whether it's worth the risk," Longmuir said before Wednesday's session.

"He's not going to be 100 per cent, he hasn't been 100 per cent for a while now.

"We can't put the long-term health of our players at risk, so we'll weigh that up.

"He's a little bit banged up in a couple of areas. He's got a few issues."

With Matt Taberner (calf) and Josh Treacy (illness) sidelined and 19-year-old first-round pick Jye Amiss only having just returned in the WAFL after undergoing kidney surgery in May, Fremantle's forward options are thin.

Swingman Griffin Logue left the track early on Wednesday, casting some doubt on his own fitness.

Fyfe spent significant time as a forward earlier this year and the two-time Brownlow medallist is set to reprise the role against the Giants.

"If he puts his hand up for selection and the docs give him the all-clear he'll play AFL," Longmuir said.

"He'll play a similar role to what he was playing when he went out of the side. He'll give us an option down forward, but it won't be his only role."

Sixth-placed Fremantle need to beat GWS on Saturday and then rely on Carlton beating Collingwood or St Kilda upsetting Sydney on Sunday in order to snare a top-four berth.
