The AFL is pleased to announce the three All Australian umpires who were announced tonight as part of the AFL Awards.
The three All Australian umpires were selected based on their performances across the 2022 Toyota AFL Premiership season.
The 2022 All Australian umpires are supported by Chemist Warehouse. One field umpire, one boundary umpire and one goal umpire were selected by the AFL Umpire Coaches.
Chris Gordon and Simon Meredith received their first All Australian blazer, while Matthew Dervan received his second All Australian honour.
The 2022 All Australian Umpires:
Simon Meredith – All Australian Field Umpire
Meredith completed another impressive home and away season in 2022, officiating his 437th AFL game on over the weekend. Meredith has umpired 39 Finals and 6 AFL Grand Finals. This is Simon Meredith’s first All-Australian.
Chris Gordon – All Australian Boundary Umpire
Gordon has completed a consistent 2022 season. Across his career, Gordon has umpired 322 AFL games and 32 finals. Gordon has also umpired 5 AFL Grand Finals. This is Chris Gordon’s first All Australian.
Matthew Dervan – All Australian Goal Umpire
Dervan made his AFL umpiring debut in 2016 and has rocketed up the ranks since. Dervan has umpired 136 AFL games and 15 Finals. He has also umpired the 2020 AFL Grand Final. This is Matthew Dervan’s second All Australian honour.
