NORTH Melbourne chairman James Brayshaw says the Kangaroos' goal to play six games in Hobart over the next three years could be confirmed as early as next week.

The AFL has been in Tasmania this week holding talks with the state government regarding the prospect of North Melbourne playing two games a season at Bellerive Oval from 2012 to 2014.

Brayshaw said the proposal had been committed to by the Hobart chamber of commerce, the local council and Cricket Tasmania, and now just needed final approval from the state government.

He said he was confident that would happen in the next few days.

"It will be fantastic and I would like to say when it comes through," he told The Footy Show on Thursday night.

"All the blocks are in place; it just needs the government to commit.

"I understand they're going to meet as early as Monday next week and I remain, as do the AFL, really confident they will give it the tick because it will fantastic.

"It's a great joint, Hobart, and the venue is ready to go so I reckon it will be a winner."

Brayshaw said suggestion the Kangaroos are poised to clear $600,000 per game were "not too far away".

He also said the club's push into the Apple Isle, where Hawthorn already maintains a foothold and will play at least four home-and-away matches at Launceston's Aurora Stadium plus one pre-season game until the end of the 2016 season, could be a boom for its supporter and membership base.

"It's important not only for [the financial aspect] but growing the supporter base as well and getting new people involved in the club," he said.

"There are 250,000 people down there who have never seen AFL football live so whoever goes there will have a captive audience."
