GEELONG has started the season with four consecutive wins, yet Chris Scott continues to insist the Cats have plenty of improvement to come.
The dream start to Scott's coaching career continued at the SCG on Saturday night when his men beat the Sydney Swans by 27 points in a game played in driving rain.
"We still don't think we're playing brilliant footy, but we are playing really tough and committed footy against a side that prides itself on that," Scott said at his post-match press conference.
"Almost every week I've marvelled at the strength of character of our players, and it was just another example of it tonight."
The Cats have shown they can win in all types of conditions and on all types of grounds.
Two weeks ago they defeated Fremantle at Patersons Stadium, which has the largest playing surface in the competition.
That game was played in hot conditions, but the tight confines of the SCG, and the very wet weather, also posed few problems for Geelong.
"That's just the job you've got to get done," Scott said. "The conditions probably suited Sydney to an extent, but we'd like to think they suited us as well.
"It was tough, and if ever there was a game where it could get a bit hard for our players, it was at the SCG in the wet, against a really tough, one-on-one side.
"It was really pleasing from that aspect."
To the frustration of their coach, the Cats trailed by seven points at the first break.
"To be honest, I thought the first five or 10 minutes were really good," Scott said. "It was a bit strange that when it started raining we started fiddling around with the ball more.
"At quarter-time we tried to address that a little bit."
It paid dividends, with Scott's men booting eight goals to three for the remainder of the match.
