FORMER Channel Ten sports boss David Barham has won a spot on Essendon's board, filling one of two vacancies.
The lifelong Bombers fan and experienced media administrator will next week be officially announced as a new member of Essendon's board alongside the re-elected member Paul Brasher.
Brasher has served the past four years as finance director, helping steer Essendon through the most challenging period in its history during the ASADA/WADA investigation.
Barham was head of sport for Channel Ten for the past five years before being recently appointed Ten Network Executive for the BBL and Australian Formula One Grand Prix.
He also established AFL Films, and was a member of Essendon's innovation committee in the past.
Outgoing Essendon chairman Paul Little, who will be replaced as the club's leader this month by board member Lindsay Tanner, congratulated Barham and Brasher on their appointments.
"The skills and experience they will bring will provide significant benefit to the Essendon Football Club," Little said.
"Paul is well known to the other members of the board having played an important role in ensuring the club remained in a strong financial position throughout the last four years.
"David has 25 years experience working across the AFL industry and will bring strong media and commercial acumen."
Voting closed for the open Essendon board positions on Monday, and the club will formally welcome the pair at its Annual General Meeting next week.
