Jeremy Guard - the new Lions Victorian Manager

The Lions’ Victorian operations are integral to the Club’s support and service of its valued southern members on match-days, at various club events around Melbourne (and in Launceston), and well-beyond with history, memorabilia and communications.

Therefore, the Club needed to search far and wide to ensure the 'right' candidate was selected to fulfill the role of Lions Victorian Manager.

This individual would be someone who personally understood our past.

However, they would also understand what is possible in our future with the support of our loyal Victorian members, Lion Hunters, Historical Society members, Lion Loyalists and supporters.

After the thorough interviewing process was completed, there was one clear choice to make when the candidates were finally assessed - former Fitzroy player Jeremy Guard.

Jeremy was drafted from Claremont (WA) to the Fitzroy Football Club at Number 7 in the 1991 National Draft.

He then didn't miss a game in either of his first two seasons playing all 42 games.

In his ninth appearance - up against Collingwood - he kicked three goals and in the dying seconds, delivered the ball into the forward 50 into the safe hands of Club legend Paul Roos who snapped the winning goal.

Jeremy played 68 games for Fitzroy before heading back to his home club of Claremont where he captained them to the 1996 WAFL Premiership.

Jeremy's service to the Lions will now continue in a senior administrative role as he undertakes the position of Victorian Manager.

He starts in the Manningham Club office at Bulleen on Monday 12 April. The Club is excited about Jeremy's appointment and hopes that our Victorian members share this enthusiasm when welcoming him back to the Pride on an active basis.

Jeremy will be attending our first Melbourne premiership clash in 2010 against the Demons in Round Five on Saturday 24 April at the MCG.

He will also spend the weeks prior getting to know you all and offering his managerial assistance.

Welcome back Jeremy and GO LIONS!!
