WE WERE really pleased to get a win over West Coast because they had beaten their last two opponents at Subiaco, in Essendon and St Kilda.
They weren’t in bad from with regard to their home fixtures so we were delighted get a 71-point victory after what was a disappointing loss to Richmond the previous week.
In saying that it was a pretty uninspiring 71-point win. We’ve still got a number of areas we can improve on and we’ll be addressing those before this weekend’s game against Carlton.
Once again we probably started off a little slowly and didn’t take the initiative with regard to taking risks, so we slowed ourselves down.
As for the likelihood that Buddy will kick his 100th goal this weekend against the Blues – he has two to go so hopefully it will happen on Saturday night. It hasn’t been a distraction for the team and I guess the amount of media coverage it has received has been due to the rarity of something like this happening.
We were especially impressed with Campbell Brown’s four-goal haul at the weekend. He has been good in applying defensive and scoreboard pressure.
It was also pleasing to have a number of our players continue with some good form with the likes of Jordan Lewis, Brent Guerra, Grant Birchall and Sam Mitchell.
This week against the Blues we’re really focusing on playing a consistent brand of footy that we can carry into finals and our first match which looks to be against the Bulldogs at this stage. If we can do that it will hold us in good stead.
