Mattner was a convincing winner, collecting 58 percent of the votes for the round ahead of Adelaide pair Michael Doughty and Graham Johncock.
Courage, initiative and teamwork continued in round seven, with the best of the 'one-percenters' as follows:
1. Xavier Clarke (St Kilda): Threw himself to smother Tiger Luke McGuane's kick and force an important turnover.
2. Brett Deledio (Richmond): Ran back with the flight of the ball in an attempt to mark, only to collide heavily with Saint Steven Baker.
3. Justin Westhoff (Port Adelaide): Chased down Bomber Ricky Dyson in the Power's forward 50 to create a goal for his side.

At the end of the home and away season, the AFL All-Australian Selection Committee will select six finalists, with the Australian football public voting for the overall winner online at afl.com.au . The All-Australian Selection Committee will then endorse the winner.
The 2008 AFL Army Award winner will receive a prize valued at $10,000, a trophy, and an Army experience. The award will be officially presented at the 2008 Coca-Cola All-Australian dinner.
The 2007 AFL Army Award winner was Essendon’s Alwyn Davey, who secured the award for his outstanding play against Hawthorn in round six last year.
