St Kilda 1969-77 138 games 69 goals. Melbourne 1979 15 games 11 goals. (b: 15 Aug 1950 183 cms 78 kgs). A wonderfully talented centreman with a high possession rate Elliott was recruited from Yea and was a regular state representative. At first he looked too slow to make it in League ranks but he came into his own after the departure of Ian Stewart. Initially given tagging roles on star opposition centremen he developed in his own right to become a fine attacking player. From 1974 to 1976 he was St Kilda's best player pound for pound and was rated the top centreman in the state. Elliott was St Kilda's best and fairest in 1974 and played for Victoria four times. He badly injured his knee in mid 1977 and at the age of 27 his career seemed to be over when he could not play senior football for a year and a half and annnounced his retirement. But he was talked into a comeback season with Melbourne. After a year he transferred to Port Adelaide then coached West Torrens.
