Retired Sydney Swan Michael O’Loughlin has recently been in South Africa as coach of the 2010 Flying Boomerangs squad.

He along with assistant coach Chris Johnson and Malcolm Lynch accompanied twenty-five Indigenous teenagers for a two-week South African tour.

News of a rare opportunity for O’Loughlin and his group has filtered back… they got to meet Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

For someone who has achieved so much in football, O’Loughlin said it was one of the highlights of his life.

The coach got to present Archbishop Tutu with some boomerangs as well as a Boomerang guernsey. As a group they walked, talked and had morning tea.
