FAMILIAR rivals Western Australia and Vic Metro will clash to decide the 2008 NAB AFL Under 16 Division One Championship title at the MCG on AFL Grand Final Day, after victories on the Gold Coast on Sunday.

Vic Metro and Western Australia have shared the last five Under 16 titles, and clashed most recently in the final of the 2008 NAB AFL Under 18 Championships.

Western Australia scored a hard fought nine-point victory over South Australia to claim a finals berth.

Centre half-forward Jack Darling was a stand-out for the West Australian’s with four goals, while small forward Brandon Matera, the son for former AFL player Wally, was also dangerous.

In the other match, Vic Metro were comfortable 75 point winners over Vic Country, with Thomas Liberatore, the son of Brownlow Medallist Tony, among Metro’s best players.

Both the Division One and Two Grand Finals will be played as curtain raisers to the 2008 AFL Grand Final on Saturday, September 27 at the MCG.
