Can the Lions keep up their excellent recent record against Port in this crucial contest?
SUMMARY
A desperate five-point win over St Kilda last weekend ensured the Power held onto eighth spot as the finals race enters the straight. Rounding the final turn and accelerating home though are the Lions, who threaten to overtake Port to earn a berth. They've won their past three and Tom Rockliff has found form but it's hard to see them enhancing their excellent recent record against a Power unit that has proven its ability against the best the AFL has to offer this season.

THE SIX POINTS
1. Port hasn't beaten the Lions since round 14, 2009 but is a vastly different side in 2013. Five of the Power's top six possession-getters from that win no longer play for the club (Danyle Pearce, David Rodan, Peter Burgoyne, Troy Chaplin, Nathan Krakouer).
2. Despite the Lions' four-straight victories against the Power, they've hardly dominated. The past two games have been decided by 11 points each, and three of the past four by less than three goals.
3. The Power's win at AAMI Stadium in 2009 remains their only success against the Lions at home in eight years. They scored a two-point win in round two, 2005 when Adam Kingsley had 25 disposals and Warren Tredrea booted five goals.
4. Tackling pressure is one of the Power's strengths, averaging 67 a game – fourth best in the League. The Lions are only ranked16th, averaging 59 tackles a match.
5. Justin Westhoff is continuing his rise up the Official AFL Player Ratings and is now the 15th best forward in the game. Westhoff was sensational last week, taking a huge, game-saving mark in defence.
6. Port has experienced good support at home for the most part in 2013. Given what's riding on this clash you'd expect a bigger crowd than the dismal 13,953 that attended this corresponding fixture in round 22 last year.
