FREMANTLE youngster Ryan Nyhuis has been sent directly to the AFL Tribunal for his dangerous tackle that concussed Port Adelaide superstar Robbie Gray on Sunday.

Nyhuis dumped Gray in a tackle after the Power midfielder had been dispossessed of the ball and was propelled over the boundary line, slamming his head into the Optus Stadium turf.

Gray was forced from the field on a stretcher early in the third quarter, having been knocked unconscious as a result of the tackle, and took no further part in the match.

Speaking after the game, Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley described the incident as "unfortunate", but said the tackle was "exactly what you're not supposed to do".

The tackle was graded by Match Review Officer Michael Christian as careless, with severe impact to the head, meaning Nyhuis will have his case heard by the Tribunal on Tuesday.

"The tackle provisions are really well written," Christian said on Monday.

"The overriding provision is 'is it unreasonable in the circumstances?' But there are some really good guidelines as to what constitutes a dangerous tackle.

"The fact that in this particular case, there looked to be more than one action and the fact that he drove Gray into the ground in a vulnerable position with excessive force … it's pretty conclusive that it did sit quite comfortably within the dangerous tackle guidelines."

From the same game, Nyhuis' teammate Nathan Wilson copped a pair of fines for misconduct following a scuffle with Travis Boak, equalling a total of $3000.

In other incidents cited over the weekend, Collingwood midfielder Levi Greenwood escaped with a fine for his late bump on gun West Coast defender Jeremy McGovern.

Greenwood collected McGovern with a bump after he had kicked the ball downfield, with the star Eagles free agent immediately coming from the ground holding his face.

The Magpie was charged with rough conduct and was fined $2000.

Brisbane's Darcy Gardiner was fined $2000 after he was charged with rough conduct for an incident involving Taylor Duryea, while Hawthorn's Jaeger O'Meara was fined $1500 for a misconduct charge involving Mitch Robinson in the same game.

Adelaide star Bryce Gibbs has already booked a date at the Tribunal, challenging a $2000 fine for rough conduct following an off-the-ball bump on Geelong captain Joel Selwood.

Elsewhere, Crows skipper Taylor Walker accepted a one-match suspension for his late bump on Cats defender Zach Tuohy on Thursday night, while Blues utility Jed Lamb will be banned for one match for eye gouging Saints forward Jade Gresham on Friday night.
