Port Adelaide hopes Angus Monfries and Paddy Ryder will be able to "move on" after the AFL Anti-Doping Tribunal delivers its verdict on charges faced by 34 past and present Essendon players.
Monfries and Ryder were teammates at the Bombers before finding their way to Alberton at the end of 2012 and 2014, respectively.
If cleared by the Tribunal, the pair will be available to play in round one. If they are found guilty, they will remain provisionally suspended, pending submissions from all relevant parties on sentencing.
Power skipper Travis Boak said Monfries and Ryder were just keen to learn their fate.
"They're probably a little bit more anxious ... we haven't really talked in depth too much about it because we don't want to put too much worry in their minds," Boak said after training on Monday morning.
"We're here for them if they want a chat but 'Gussy's' (Monfries) in there getting a rub now and he seems pretty relaxed.
"For them, it's hopefully the end of it all and they can move on, but we're just hoping for the best result for those guys."
Boak said they were crucial members of the club's best 22 but remained confident Port had the depth to cover them if Tuesday's announcement rendered them unavailable to face Fremantle.
"If a player can't play, whether it's Gus or Paddy or Chaddy (Wingard), we expect someone else to come in and stand up," he said.
"It doesn't matter who comes into our side; we've got a mantra we want to live by and it doesn't matter who it is – that's the way you've got to play if you play for this club.
"We've had a lot of young guys really step up this pre-season ... we've got some guys who can really play some AFL footy.
"We've got plenty of depth that we're able to cover guys who go out."
Boak skipped last week's captains' day at Etihad Stadium after sustaining a corked hip at training but insisted he would be at his peak against the Dockers on Sunday.
Key defender Jackson Trengove (shoulder) and midfielder Hamish Hartlett (groin) have also been declared fit, while some doubt remains over whether Wingard has fully recovered from knee surgery.
"Jacko trained today, 'Harts' trained today, so they're looking really good – Chaddy's the only one that is probably going to be touch and go," he said.
"Hopefully he can get up because he's a pretty important player.
"If Chaddy's not right to go he won't play, it's as simple as that."
The Power will fly to Perth on Friday before Sunday's season-opener at Domain Stadium.
