PAPUA New Guinea will be vying for their second AFL International Cup title after dispatching New Zealand in the first Semi Final at Royal Park.
After scraping into the top four due to Saturday’s unexpected loss to South Africa, PNG made amends today with an emphatic 12.3 (75) to 4.4 (28) victory.
The highly fancied Kiwis, the team many predicted to take out this year’s title, proved no match for the fleeted-footed and ferocious Mosquitos.

PNG star forward Amua Pirika bagged three crucial goals, while Gideon Simon and Theo Gavuri were in everything through the middle.
Captain John James also shone at half back, repelling countless attacks with poise and class, while ruckman John Ikupu dominated in the air.
New Zealand skipper Andrew Howison was clearly the Kiwis' best, leading from the front and winning plenty of the ball.
In a blistering opening term PNG slammed on four goals to none, running in numbers and illustrating their sublime skills and athleticism with some stunning passages of play.
Pirika stamped his authority with two goals to help his side silence the Kiwis early, as the favourites struggled to find their rhythm.
After regrouping at quarter time, New Zealand reappeared ready for the fight and through the work of Howison and Levi Inglis headed to the half time break still trailing by just the four goal margin.
Another arm wrestled followed in the third term and a late goal to the Kiwis cut the deficit to 19 points.
The first goal of the final quarter was always going to prove decisive and it was Pirika that delivered.
After smothering a clearing kick from the Kiwi defence he charged on to the ball with electric speed, backing himself to storm past his opponent and run into an open goal.
While the Kiwis tried to counter eventually the flood gates opened, leaving PNG to power to a 47-point victory.
The Mosquitoes will play Ireland at the MCG on Saturday aftertoon after the Warriors overcame South Africa in the second semi final.
Despite hitting their straps they do, however, have some injury concerns after Pirika and captain James both limped off in the final term.
