CARLTON has signed two Olympic gold medallists ahead of the 2019 NAB AFL Women’s season.
Chloe Dalton and Brooke Walker were both part of the Australian women’s rugby sevens team that won gold at the Rio Olympics in 2016.
The cross-coders have been playing for Carlton’s VFLW team this season.
Dalton, 25, was named the Blues’ VFLW deputy vice-captain and has played 11 games this season, with her speed and evasiveness her biggest assets.
Predominantly playing in defence, 23-year-old Walker has featured in every game.
"Chloe and Brooke will add another layer to our AFLW list. They have worked really hard during the VFLW season to improve their skills," Carlton AFLW coach Daniel Harford said.
"It’s a terrific endorsement that our VFLW program provides a pathway to play senior women’s football."
The AFLW rookie signing period closes on Friday, September 28.
