There has been no let-up for North’s players in their first week since returning from a grueling pre season training camp in Utah.

Friday began with a scorching 2km time trial around the Moonee Ponds Athletic Track with Will Sierakowski impressing his new teammates by finishing at the front of the pack.

“I was just happy to get through the time trial unscathed,” Sierakowski told kangaroos.com.au.

“I was chasing Lachie (Hansen) for the first couple of laps then I heard one of the boys yell out that Narni (Nathan Grima) was coming so I had to try and pick it back up.”

While Sierakowski has impressed the club's fitness staff with his endurance since arriving at the club, he says its his team-mates who are helping him through.

“There’s always someone on your tail and Jona Segal (Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach) is always onto us about how fast we’re going and keeps pushing us along.

“A lot of the guys managed to cut off around 30 seconds from their times since the last time trial so it was a really good team effort.”

The temperature had soared to over 25 degrees by the 9am start time, providing a sharp contrast from North's first time trial in freezing conditions in Utah.

“It was definitely easier to breathe this time around as opposed to running at altitude in Utah," Sierakowski added.

“I noticed the heat took its toll on my recovery more so than my running. I found I was struggling to recover for our hills session which came directly afterwards. The heat really caught up with me.

“It was a very tough session overall.”

Nathan Grima finished a close second in the time trial with Lachlan Hansen and Levi Greenwood coming in third and forth respectively.
