ALTHOUGH rated just a 50-50 chance by Geelong on Tuesday, midfielder Gary Ablett now seems set to resume for the Cats against Richmond at the MCG on Saturday.

Ablett missed Geelong's last home match against the Brisbane Lions, and the Hall of Fame Tribute Match last Saturday night, due to a small tear in his calf muscle.

But following training on Wednesday, Geelong seemed optimistic their star onballer would take his place in the side.

"He got through with no worries at all. He just has to get through the run on Friday," assistant football operations manager Steve Hocking told the Herald Sun newspaper.

"We have never really been in too much doubt, but it is a case of him making sure he gets through the sessions. He feels himself like he is going to be right, but the medical staff need to clear him."

The Cats are also likely to include Darren Milburn despite the defender missing much of the Tribute Match with bruised ribs.

Several players including Shannon Byrnes, Travis Varcoe and Brent Prismall, are pushing for the spot left vacant by the suspended Mathew Stokes.
