THREE players have received perfect 10s from the coaches in the opening round of finals matches, putting them in prime position to win the inaugural Gary Ayres Award.
The AFL Coaches Association has minted the new award for the player of the finals series, based on the voting system used for the AFLCA Player of the Year Award during the season.
Adelaide superstar Eddie Betts, Greater Western Sydney forward Jeremy Cameron, young Western Bulldogs star Caleb Daniel all received top votes from the competing coaches in their matches.
The award will be presented on the Monday following the Grand Final.
