Other incidents assessed
Contact between the Geelong Cats' Mitch Duncan and the Western Bulldogs' Caleb Daniel from the second quarter of Friday's match was assessed. The Western Bulldogs' Lachlan Hunter has the ball and is tackled high. As Hunter releases the ball to his team mate Daniel, he is paid a free kick for the high contact. Duncan tackles Daniel to the ground as play is being called to stop. It was the view of the panel there was insufficient forceful high contact with the ground to Daniel for a charge to be laid. A free kick had already been paid to the Bulldogs and therefore Daniel did not receive the ball in this instance.
Contact between the Brisbane Lions' Rhys Mathieson and Port Adelaide's Chad Wingard from the third quarter of Saturday's match was assessed. Port Adelaide's Jared Polec kicks to Wingard, who marks the ball. Mathieson arrives at the contest as the mark is being taken and makes strong body contact to the back of his opponent. A 50-metre penalty was paid at the time against the Brisbane player. It was the view of the panel the 50-metre penalty appropriately dealt with the matter on field at the time and no further action was required.
