WESTERN Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge admits he's concerned that three of his brightest young stars have succumbed to foot stress injuries this season.

Bailey Williams, Bailey Dale and Tim English have all had their promising 2018 campaigns hampered by the injury, with Williams the latest to enter the rehab group after complaining of pain in his metatarsal bone following the win over Geelong last week.

Dale will miss the remainder of the season with a navicular concern, while English will resume in the VFL this weekend after recovering from having his foot stepped on in late May.

Speaking on Friday morning, Beveridge said while the club believes there's no connection between the injuries, they're investigating why they have occurred.

"(The injuries are) a concern, and we're looking into it," Beveridge said.

"Tim was stepped on and his flared up, Bailey Dale's is navicular, whereas Bailey William's is a metatarsal, so they're all very different, but that doesn't mean we won't review what's going on in all the ways we manage our players.

"It just appears they're three very different injuries caused by different things, but we'll make sure we're clear on that."

Asked if the playing surfaces of the club's home ground, Etihad Stadium, and the Whitten Oval could have played a part in the injuries, Beveridge said he's been assured the hardness of both grounds are within the acceptable levels.

"We can't rule out (surface hardness), but all the Clegg testing tells us, according to the AFL, the Etihad surface results indicate that it's safe, the same with Whitten Oval," Beveridge said.

"If you compare both of the surfaces to the MCG, the MCG is considerably softer than those two surfaces, but they're all within parameters of acceptability so we've got to take that for what it's worth."

The Dogs will play their 10th game at Etihad Stadium for the year against Hawthorn on Saturday night, and Beveridge has recalled premiership defender Shane Biggs after dropping him three times already in 2018.

Biggs is out of contract at season's end, but Beveridge denied the defensive playmaker's future at the club was in doubt.

"I'd rather not talk about the pressure on him because he's definitely a long-term player for us and our football club.

"There's no pressure as far as his long-term future goes.

"Each week with Shane, and a couple of others (out of the side), there's always that pressure to perform, so he'll feel that a little bit.

"We'll give him every chance to settle and find his way through the game, and it's really important to us that 'Biggsy' finds his best form at the level because he's been a significant contributor for us for the last few years."

Small forward Caleb Daniel will return to face the Hawks after missing the win over the Cats with knee soreness.
