The AFL wishes to advise the Tribunal will sit tonight at 5pm, Tuesday August 19 to hear the cases involving Brent Harvey, who was referred directly to the Tribunal, and Nat Fyfe, who is contesting a striking charge. Charges will be heard in the order listed below, and please also find below the list of those sanctions accepted:

 

AFL Tribunal, Tuesday August 19, 5pm:

Brent Harvey, North Melbourne, has been charged with Misconduct against Liam Picken, Western Bulldogs, during the second quarter of the Round 21 match between North Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs played at Etihad Stadium on Sunday August 17, 2014.   

 

In summary, under the rules available to the MRP, the matter has been directly referred to the Tribunal for its determination and he cannot accept an early plea on this matter. 

 

Nat Fyfe, Fremantle, has been charged with a Level Three Striking Offence (225 demerit points, two match sanction) for striking Jordan Lewis, Hawthorn, during the first quarter of the Round 21 match between Fremantle and Hawthorn, played at Patersons Stadium on Sunday August 17, 2014.

 

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Hawthorn Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of six activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Three Offence, drawing 225 demerit points and a two-match sanction. He has an existing bad record of four matches suspended within the last two years, increasing the penalty by 20 per cent to 270 demerit points and a two-match sanction. He also has 6.25 demerit points carried over from within the last 12 months, increasing the penalty to 276.25 points and a two-match sanction.

 

Sanctions Accepted:

Matthew Stokes, Geelong Cats, has accepted a $900 sanction for making negligent contact with umpire Justin Schmitt during the first quarter of the Round 21 match between the Geelong Cats and Carlton, played at Etihad Stadium on Friday August 15, 2014.

 

Pearce Hanley, Brisbane Lions, has accepted a $900 sanction for making negligent contact with umpire Matthew Leppard during the third quarter of the Round 21 match between the Brisbane Lions and Collingwood, played at the MCG on Saturday August 16, 2014.

 

Jordan Roughead, Western Bulldogs, has accepted a $2100 sanction for engaging in a melee during the second quarter of the Round 21 match between the Western Bulldogs and North Melbourne, played at Etihad Stadium on Sunday August 17, 2014.

 

Mark Austin, Western Bulldogs, has accepted a $1200 sanction for engaging in a melee during the second quarter of the Round 21 match between the Western Bulldogs and North Melbourne, played at Etihad Stadium on Sunday August 17, 2014.

 

Lindsay Thomas, North Melbourne, has accepted a $1200 sanction for engaging in a melee during the second quarter of the Round 21 match between North Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs, played at Etihad Stadium on Sunday August 17, 2014.

 

Aaron Black, North Melbourne, has accepted a $1200 sanction for engaging in a melee during the second quarter of the Round 21 match between North Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs, played at Etihad Stadium on Sunday August 17, 2014.

 

Daniel Wells, North Melbourne, has accepted a reprimand and 70.31 points towards his future record for striking Shaun Higgins, Western Bulldogs, during the third quarter of the Round 21 match between North Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs, played at Etihad Stadium on Sunday August 17, 2014.

 

Daniel Wells, North Melbourne,has accepted a one-game sanction for engaging in rough conduct against Shaun Higgins, Western Bulldogs, during the fourth quarter of the Round 21 match between North Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs, played at Etihad Stadium on Sunday August 17, 2014.
