A PAIR of in-principle trades on Wednesday weren't enough to halt the exchange period speculation mill, which has former Tiger Andrew Krakouer linked strongly to Collingwood.

The Herald Sun and The Australian have reported that the 27-year-old former Richmond forward will join the premiers in a deal to be announced on Thursday.

The story suggests Krakouer, who spent 16 months in jail before resurrecting his career with WAFL club Swan Districts in 2010, will be pre-listed by Gold Coast and then traded to the Magpies for NAB AFL Draft selection No.25.

Also reported by the Herald Sun and The Age is the theory that Collingwood ruckman Josh Fraser could be headed to the Suns as the club's seventh out-of-contract signing, just in time for Thursday's deadline for the new club to recruit one player from each club.

Brisbane Lions utility Jared Brennan also remains likely to head to Gold Coast with a pre-listed player to be involved in the trade, while both papers continue to link Western Bulldogs ruckman Will Minson with the new club.

The Age also says Adelaide ruckman Jon Griffin will be granted his wish to go home to Western Australia, via a trade to Fremantle for a third-round pick.

As reported by afl.com.au's Trade Week Radio, the Herald Sun has reported that Melbourne remains in pole position to recruit North Melbourne big man David Hale while Brisbane Lions' ruckman Mitch Clark looks like staying put.

While Hawthorn's Chris Pelchen told Trade Week Radio the Hawks believed Chris Tarrant was headed to Collingwood, it has been reported they remain interested in the Fremantle defender, along with Carlton.

The Herald Sun says Tarrant has threatened to retire if a trade to Collingwood can't be made while The Australian says the deal with the Pies has stalled.

It has also been reported by the Herald Sun that Carlton defender Bret Thornton is headed elsewhere after requesting a trade, and Hawthorn has renewed its interest of several seasons ago.

The Australian says Port Adelaide will axe Daniel Motlop if he is not traded and the Eagles will do the same with Ben McKinley, Matt Spangher and Beau Wilkes, with the first two attracting minor interest from other clubs.

The Herald Sun says Carlton and Hawthorn are into Motlop and the Sydney Swans will ramp up their efforts to snare Justin Sherman on Thursday.

The Hawks are also reported to be looking to offload Rick Ladson, Beau Dowler and Beau Muston but will keep trying for Bulldog forward Josh Hill, a story that has also been reported in The Age.

The Hawks told Trade Week Radio they were after a defender whom they declined to name, with the Herald Sun claiming that backman is Collingwood premiership player Tyson Goldsack.

However, Pies' recruiting manager Derek Hine told Trade Week Radio late on Wednesday that none of Goldsack, Sharrod Wellingham or Chris Dawes would be traded.

Carlton is playing hard ball with ruckman Sam Jacobs, with the Herald Sun reporting the Blues have balked at Adelaide's request for selection No.14.

However, the newspaper suggested in the same piece that Irishman Setanta O'hAilpin could be headed to Whitten Oval for another player while Shaun Grigg wants to go to Richmond in what could be a three-way agreement.

There has been no definitive movement on Andrew Walker with The Age claiming the Crows are losing interest and the Herald Sun saying the Dogs can't afford him.
The Blues are not keen on doing a package deal with the Crows for Walker and Jacobs.

The Age also says Travis Johnstone's career at the Lions appears over, the Bombers want a selection in the 20s for Bachar Houli and Adelaide bad boy Tony Armstrong has attracted interest from three Melbourne based clubs.

In the trades confirmed by the clubs so far, the Western Bulldogs and Sydney Swans have dealt on a swap of Andrejs Everitt for Patrick Veszpremi and a fourth-round draft pick.

Richmond's Richard Tambling is also headed elsewhere with Adelaide agreeing to part with its compensation pick at the end of the first round and a fourth-round pick for the midfielder.
