"We are looking to derail all the sides that we play in the second half of the year. If that's the Kangaroos and they are fighting for a finals spot then so be it," Harvey said on Wednesday as he celebrated his 43rd birthday.
"The key for us is to stop talking about how unlucky we've been and our fadeouts. I actually have to get the players into the mindset of knowing where they need to improve and hopefully that flows into this game."
Fremantle's 22-point loss to the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Sunday wasn’t full of positives for Harvey, but at least his side finally won a last quarter. He will regain dashing defender Roger Hayden to take on the Kangaroos, with Heath Black out suspended and Shaun McManus an unlikely starter due to his troublesome knee.
Daniel Gilmore, Ryan Murphy and Adam Campbell could also be in line for a call up, with Marcus Drum and Steven Dodd required to prove their fitness before being considered. Harvey is looking forward to locking horns with Dean Laidley again and knows his North Melbourne side will be tough to conquer.
"It will be interesting to see what sort of tactics Dean takes into the game. They've made it clear they want to become a higher scoring team and come through the corridor more and it could be quite an attacking game," he said.
"They lost a couple of their key forwards coming into the game but they still kicked a pretty big score and pushed Geelong all night, so they are a side that just keeps evolving no matter what players they have available or the opposition.
"That spirit they always talk about comes to the fore, the Kangaroos have a good record at Subiaco and it will be an interesting game."
