Long-serving West Coast Eagles administrator Steve Woodhouse will scale back his commitments at the club in coming months.

Steve Woodhouse, who spent eight years as the general manager of football operations, has been engaged in the role of contracts and list manager for the past two years.

He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease several years ago and moved into the contracts and list management position because the illness made it difficult for him to devote the energy required in the demanding football manager’s role.

With Steve Woodhouse changing roles, the club appointed former Melbourne coach Neale Daniher to the role of general manager of football operations.

Daniher has conducted an extensive review of the recruiting and list management positions with the club and Woodhouse will peel back to a part-time role, focusing largely on contracts. The club will shortly begin the process of advertising nationally for the ever-expanding role of list management.

“Steve has been a highly valued contributor to our football club in the last 10 years,” Daniher said. “Unfortunately, with the importance and time demanded in the area of list management, Steve’s health dictates that he can longer fulfil those duties.

“He will reduce his work load to a part-time capacity after the club identifies and appoints the appropriate person to fulfil the list management role at the football club.”
