Coaches always want their players to have crisp skills but in Utah, that term takes on a whole different meaning.

In temperatures well below zero, the North squad began an extensive skills session on some local soccer pitches in Park City.

Those with enough forethought were sensible enough to purchase gloves the night before in readiness for the extreme conditions.

“It was freezing…I can’t even feel my hands,” Ben Cunnington told kangaroos.com.au at the completion of the session.

“It’s ridiculous how cold it is!”

After running four kilolmetres to the venue, the players stretched and prepared for the rigorous exercise - warm was essential on this day.

Almost on cue, the snow began to fall as the first whistle was blown.

“It’s a bit different playing with snow blowing in your face…it’s really hard to get feeling in your hands and feet and be able to execute the skills properly,” Cunnington added.

“It’s been good though…pretty exhausting but good.”
