The Melbourne Football Club is pleased to announce that Drake International has agreed to become the Club’s Coaches’ Box sponsor.

Melbourne CEO, Cameron Schwab, said, “Drake holds a special place in our history, and we are delighted that they will also be a part of our future. Interestingly, Drake last came to the Club at a time of resurgence, back in the mid 1980s, and we’d like to think that their decision to come back will also signal another successful chapter in the history of the Melbourne Football Club.”

Drake International Chairman, Ron Urwin, said, “I am delighted to see the renewal of our relationship with the MFC. When we were last a sponsor, the Melbourne Football Club was on the way up and did play finals footy. Drake was also on the way as “the best job finders in the world”. With the support of all connected to the Club, we look forward to assisting Melbourne through its membership, and players, to be the best that it can be in the years ahead.”

When Drake first came on board with the Melbourne Football Club in 1985, the Demons were still wearing royal blue, Rodney Grinter was Best First Year Player, and Robert Flower was still flying down the wing.

In 1987, signing for a second term, the Drake logo now graced navy blue and red guernseys. Melbourne had its ‘Night of Glory’, scoring the night premiership over Essendon, and made it to the finals for the first time since 1964. Drake was an integral part of this, and continued to be so until the end of 1991. The Club now welcomes them back for the 2010 season and beyond.
