Although Anderson did not highlight names, the actions have been largely enforced due to the inappropriate behaviour of Coleman Medallist Brendan Fevola, who was subsequently traded from Carlton to the Brisbane Lions last October.
Anderson conceded last year was "a bit of a setback".
"From an event point of view, there were elements of last year's Brownlow that was disappointing and we need to learn from that and we've put in place some measures to try and ensure that doesn't repeat," he told afl.com.au.
But Anderson said AFL clubs are now better educating their players in relation to the consumption of alcohol.
"What's important here is that we're three years into the journey of an industry-wide approach to the responsible consumption of alcohol," he said.
"A lot of work has already gone in at club level and across the industry to really take measures to make sure that the responsible consumption of alcohol takes place.
"For example, every club has now put in place a policy in discussion with the leadership group, as to how they see the role of alcohol in their club."
