GOLD Coast has received good news on the injury front, with co-captain Steven May set to miss just one game with a hamstring injury.

There were fears the key defender would miss at least two weeks after he injured his right hamstring in the first quarter of last Saturday's loss to Collingwood but scans showed he should miss only this weekend's clash with the Western Bulldogs.

"Real low-level tightness in his hamstring so we won't push him to play this week. We'll get him through this weekend with rehab, with a view to play the following weekend," Suns football manager Marcus Ashcroft told goldcoastfc.com.au.

That would have May in line to return for the following week's game against Richmond at Metricon Stadium.

Meanwhile, in-form midfielder Jarryd Lyons will be out for about a month as he deals with an ankle complaint.

"We thought he might miss three-to-four and that's what's going to happen, we think at this early stage. There was a bit of low-level bone bruising, a little bit of syndesmosis with his ankle strain," Aschroft said.

There were fears backman Jack Leslie suffered a fractured fibula when he came off the ground late in the NEAFL, but he's likely to miss just one.

"He's presented pretty well this week. We'll test him later in the week but I would've thought he's more unlikely not to play this weekend," Ashcroft said.

Small forward Brandon Matera is dealing with a foot concern.

"Similar to last week, we tested him last week (and) he didn't quite come up. Same again this week. We'll give him a chance to play, subject him getting through training today (Tuesday) and Thursday and assess him Thursday afternoon," Ashcroft.
