Premiership player Toby Thurstans is the only player to be awarded Life Membership in 2008, with support staff members Foster Bibron and Brian Fitzpatrick, and video analyst Alan Hincks also being recognised.
“We are thrilled to have four new inductees as Life Members of the Port Adelaide Football Club, taking our total to 324 people dating back to 1909,” said Power president Greg Boulton.
“Each of the four has given this club fantastic service whether it be on the field or off the field and they are all very worthy of their Life Member Status.”
Thurstans, who joined the Power via the 1998 NAB AFL National Draft, did not make his debut until Round 1, 2003, before going on to play a pivotal role in the club’s inaugural AFL Premiership in 2004, kicking three goals in the Grand Final. He is poised to play his 100th AFL game in Round 1, 2009, should he be selected.
Bibron started with the club in 1999, with the former boxing champion helping out with rehabilitation and as the boxing coach. Fitzpatrick has served the club for ten years as ball and room steward, as well as being the resident handyman around the Allan Scott Power Headquarters. Hincks commenced in 1999 in the video department and has played a key role in the expansion and improvement of that area.
Life Memberships will be presented at the club’s Annual General Meeting on Monday, 15 December 2008.
