WESTERN Bulldogs forward Jack Redpath believes he and fellow tall Tom Boyd can both prosper in the same side.

The strong-marking duo were only selected in that same team three times last season, with Redpath Luke Beveridge's preferred option during the Bulldogs' run to September while Boyd played in the VFL.

With Boyd coming off a modest 2015 campaign, pressure is mounting on the 20-year-old to match his big-money contract with his output on the field.

Beveridge has called for Boyd's critics to back off and Redpath believes if they're both playing well, they'll both get selected.

"I've been asked that question a bit and I've always said we can," Redpath told reporters on the Bulldogs' community camp in Ballarat.

"But why not if we're both in form and playing good footy?"

If Beveridge continues to select the one tall forward this season, Redpath is looking good for a round one spot against Fremantle after an impressive performance in the Dogs' intraclub hit-out at the weekend.

While Boyd sat out the session with a minor hamstring complaint, Redpath said his four-goal performance was "really important".

Redpath allayed fears over a hip concern, which forced him out of Saturday's session early. The niggle had already interrupted the 25-year-old's pre-season.

"I was a little bit nervous at the start but it was just a knock and I'll be right to train this week," Redpath said.

"I missed a little bit (of) pre-season before Christmas (with hip issues) but then to come out in the last few pieces of match play moving well, feeling good and reading the ball pretty well is nice."

And Redpath doesn't envisage the Dogs' forward set-up changing too much in the absence of the suspended former Bomber Stewart Crameri.

"We'll miss 'Stewy' but we've great depth in the squad at the moment, especially for the forwards so I don't think it will change too much," he said.

"'Stewy' is a great player but the dynamics will stay the same."
