PORT Adelaide ramped up its physicality, but defender Ryan Burton doesn't believe the suspensions of Karl Amon and Dougal Howard were a by-product of that increased aggression.
Amon and Howard accepted one-game bans for incidents in the Power's 11-point upset of ladder leaders Geelong at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.
Amon delivered an off-the-ball bump on Cats forward Gary Rohan that left him concussed, while Howard was charged with striking Harry Taylor away from play.
Burton said the Power were challenged to impose themselves on the contest after a disappointing last-quarter fadeout in their loss to Fremantle a week earlier.
"We like to take our aggression out fairly in tackles and stoppages and the incidents are different to that," Burton told reporters on Tuesday.
"We might have been reminded a bit (about being physical) because we lacked it in the last quarter against Fremantle, but we've done it most of the year.
"It's basically second nature to us."
Burton didn't train on Tuesday as part of his usual load management, and will be fine to face the Western Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.
Midfielder Tom Rockliff got through a fitness test on his hamstring, but is expected to return through the SANFL after not playing since round 10.
"If he pulls up really well on Thursday then he's probably up for selection this week," Burton said.
Veterans Paddy Ryder and Justin Westhoff are likely to be overlooked again, with midfielder Willem Drew and ruck/forward Peter Ladhams the favourites to replace Amon and Howard.
"They (Ryder and Westhoff) might play a game in the twos," Burton said.
"They might want to get a bit of confidence back - they've been lacking that in the last few weeks.
"There's a few players screaming out to play games, like Willem Drew and Peter Ladhams, so it could provide an opportunity for them."
