FIELD umpire Justin Schmitt will officiate in his 350th AFL match in Friday night's blockbuster preliminary final between Adelaide and Geelong at Adelaide Oval.
Schmitt will become just the 10th field umpire to reach the 350-game milestone, joining peers and existing whistle-blowers Shane McInerney and Brett Rosebury.
Schmitt will not be the only umpire to achieve a personal milestone this week, with Rosebury to break the all-time record for finals games umpired in the Crows-Cats clash.
Rosebury is set to officiate in his 40th AFL final, surpassing legendary umpires Hayden Kennedy and Jack Elder.
Matt Stevic is the other field umpire named to officiate in the Adelaide and Geelong preliminary final.
Young umpire Brendan Hosking has been named as the emergency umpire.
Experienced umpires Matthew Nicholls, Simon Meredith and Shaun Ryan have been booked to officiate the Richmond-Greater Western Sydney preliminary final match-up at the MCG on Saturday.
Ray Chamberlain has been named as an emergency for the second-straight week after he sat on the bench during the Geelong-Sydney semi-final.
That means all six field umpires selected to officiate in the semi-finals have been retained for preliminary final week, with three to be named for the Grand Final next weekend.
