Steven has a thorough knowledge of Football Administration and his record working with young players in particular will be of enormous benefit to the Carlton Football Club. His role working with the players and the coaching staff as well as the senior management team of the Club is a vital role for the continued development of the Carlton Football Club,” said Carlton CEO, Mr Michael Malouf.
“In particular Steven’s experience at the Fremantle Football Club in both retaining a young talented list and attracting new talent was seen as vital in where this club sees itself at the moment,” Michael added.
Steven joins Carlton after six years with the Fremantle Football Club. He has officially resigned from his position as the General Manager – Player Personnel & List Management a position he has held since 2006 having previously been the Football Manager with Fremantle.
“I am looking forward to joining the Carlton Football Club and being a part of the resurgence of this famous club. It is certainly a wonderful time to be involved with Carlton with such an exciting young playing group and I am looking forward to the challenges that we will encounter as we work together to ensure the future success of the team,” said Steven.
A premiership player with North Melbourne in 1977 Steven played 198 matches with North Melbourne and Melbourne between 1975 and 1985 and represented Victoria on five occasions. As well as an extensive football background Steven has also been involved with sporting organisations and as a leadership communication specialist with Rogen International.
Steven will replace Grant Williams following Grant’s decision to resign from the industry and return to the engineering field. Steven will commence with Carlton on Monday March 26th.
