MELBOURNE coach Dean Bailey will not hesitate to play talls Mark Jamar, Max Gawn and Stefan Martin in the same team if all three are available.

Jamar, who is in contention to return this weekend, hasn't played since injuring his left knee in the Demons' round seven win over Adelaide. Bailey said there was room for him and in-form ruck/forward combination Gawn and Martin in Melbourne's side.

"He should be able to train this week and he will be up for selection," Bailey said of Jamar.

"We might be able to play Jamar, Martin and Gawn in the forward line. All three might be able to play (as) two talls and a ruckman.

"We look at trying to kick the ball in deeper to a couple of targets, and if you look at some of the other teams that have gone in with tall forwards, I think that might be an option for us."

In more good news for the Demons, bookends Brad Green and Colin Garland should be fine to take the field against Richmond this week despite injury concerns.

Both Garland and Green suffered minor ankle injuries in Sunday's thumping of Fremantle, but Bailey said they were on track to play against the Tigers.

Green left the MCG on crutches on Sunday afternoon, but Bailey said that was just a conservative measure.

"He rolled his ankle. He is walking around fine today. It's just a precaution thing. I met with Brad five minutes ago ... he was walking around with no crutches at all," Bailey said.

"He's battled little injuries for his whole career … so I don't think this is going to keep him out."

Bailey said it was a similar situation for Garland, but was reassured by a ready-made replacement should he not recover in time for Saturday's clash.

"Matty Warnock's in good form if there's an issue with 'Garlo'. He was limping around today better than we thought he'd be," he said.

"We're still 24 hours post-game. I think 'Garlo' should come up, but we've got a ready-made replacement in Matty."

The Demons coach reiterated the need for consistency as his team has struggled to string together quality performances this season. He said Saturday's clash with Richmond gave the team an opportunity to continue its momentum.

"I know this might sound bland, but we need to be more consistent with our effort. We will reduce those highs and lows," he said.

"It gets back to training. Everything about our game on the weekend is about the preparation. We've got to prepare as well as we have and make sure that our efforts from the start to the finish.

"There are going to be times in games where we're being challenged and we need to fight and grind our way out of situations."
