> Didak and Shaw provided strong leadership in the Collingwood Knights win at Victoria Park on Wednesday 27 May

On Wednesday 27 May Victoria Park hosted the Collingwood Knights v Kardinia Cats, a round four match in the Victoria Reclink Football League, a league made up of Victoria’s homeless and disadvantaged.

Collingwood’s Heath Shaw and Alan Didak have supported the team throughout the year and were on hand to provide match day assistance for the Collingwood Knights.

Didak conducted the on ground warm up and ran the players through specific Magpie drills, created by the forward’s head coach Mick Malthouse.

Shaw then led the team into the Victoria Park rooms and gave the players a stirring pre-match address.

“Don’t leave anything on the field today.  Play for each other because remember, you are a team.”

Didak and Shaw have been involved with the Knights throughout the season and have aided the team in practice sessions and games.

Reclink currently operates 28 homeless and disadvantaged teams participating in organised leagues across Victoria and the Northern Territory.

Several teams are coached by local police, and involve men and women of all abilities playing with the Spirit of Reclink which is a code based on shared respect for all and an environment that is safe and secure for all participants.

With Shaw and Didak cheering on their team from the bench, the Knights ran home to a comfortable home win.
