ALREADY under pressure, Gold Coast has suffered a huge blow during the first quarter of its match against Collingwood, losing co-captain Steven May to a right hamstring injury.
May had looked fairly sharp in the opening period of the game, halting Collingwood's run forward on several occasions, but the key defender lunged just a touch too far when spoiling a ball on the wing.
He crashed to the turf and immediately made his way to the bench grimacing, before doctors made the call to ice his hamstring and remove him from the game.
May injured his left hamstring in round four this year, missing two matches.
In another blow, in-form midfielder Jarryd Lyons was ruled out at half-time due to an ankle injury suffered in the first term.
Lyons bravely played on during the second quarter, but was clearly hampered and eventually ruled out at the long break.
