The Brisbane Lions will approach AFL Trade Week with an eye to improving the Club’s playing list.

Much of the Trade Week discussion surrounding the Lions has been centred around ruckman/forward Mitch Clark who requested a move back home to Western Australia last month.

National Talent Manager Rob Kerr will be the Club’s official spokesperson throughout the AFL exchange period and will provide fans with a detailed analysis should the Lions formalise any deals.

In the meantime, all Lions fans are encouraged to keep posted to this page for all the latest trade news and media reports that surface throughout the week.

The AFL Trade Week will officially close at 2pm on Monday 17 October.

LATEST TRADE WEEK STORIES

DAY ONE: Monday 10 October

? All 18 AFL clubs converged on Etihad Stadium to discuss each other’s trading position. These initial talks simply laid the foundation for future negotiations.

? The Herald-Sun reported on Sunday that the Lions were interested in securing the services of Richmond defender Luke McGuane who was eager to head back home to Queensland.

? Queensland-born Adelaide forward Kurt Tippett was also being linked to the Lions as a potential player in the Clark trade. However, the Crows remained adamant that Tippett was a required player and would not be traded.

? Rob Kerr confirmed that the Club was interested in luring retired Western Bulldogs ruckman Ben Hudson to the Lions following reports in The Age. Hudson, who had intended moving home to Queensland to play with Southport, was being considered as a viable back-up option for Matthew Leuenberger.

? Mitch Clark’s Manager Colin Young said that Clark would prefer a move to Fremantle rather than West Coast and was confident that a deal could be done with the Dockers. “I think he is Fremantle-bound,” Young said.

? Afl.com.au reported at the end of the day that the proposed deal between the Lions and Fremantle involving Mitch Clark had hit a road-block, with the Lions unhappy with the Dockers’ offering. “I think we value Mitch in a different way to what Fremantle values him at this stage,” Rob Kerr said.

? Kerr also mentioned that the Club had not spoken with Richmond about any trade for Luke McGuane.

DAY TWO: Tuesday 11 October

? The Australian revealed that Fremantle had apparently offered their compensation selection received for Rhys Palmer’s move to GWS (which could be as low as No.31 overall) in return for Mitch Clark. The Lions promptly said “no”.

? It was also believed that West Coast were very much still in the running for Clark after presenting a more “reasonable” offer to the Lions.

? The Herald Sun reported that the Lions were still in the market for Kurt Tippett despite Adelaide’s intent to keep him. “We’ve expressed our interest in Kurt, and Adelaide are aware of it,” Kerr said.

? Former Lions full-forward Brendan Fevola told Trade Week Radio that he remained hopeful of finding a new team for the 2012 season. Fevola is still on the Lions' list and could be traded this week should another club show interest.

? Trade Week Radio reveals that Fremantle, GWS, Adelaide and Hawthorn are working on a complicated deal that could see the Dockers land something which can then be used for Lions ruckman/forward Mitch Clark.

? Rob Kerr tells Trade Week Radio that he expects very little trade activity until after the GWS 'Mini Draft' is confirmed at 5pm on Thursday.

? He also said that the Club had been in regular contact with Mitch Clark and wasn't discounting the possibility of the 23 year-old remaining at the Lions next season.

DAY THREE: Wednesday 12 October

?
The Age reports that the proposed four way deal involving Fremantle, GWS, Hawthorn and Adelaide had been blocked by the AFL as it was not classified as a genuine on-trade. The deal was apparently going to land Fremantle Pick No.10, which they could then, in turn, possibly use in a deal with the Lions for Mitch Clark.

? Rob Kerr said the Club wasn't expecting any approaches from other clubs concerning Brendan Fevola. "He comes off our list on October 31 and is then free to join any club in the competition," Kerr said.

? Speaking with SEN, Rob Kerr mentioned that the Lions had been in contact with GWS regarding a potential trade for Luke Power. "We have a high regard for Luke...and want to make things easier for both sides as far as he goes," Kerr said.

? Luke Power's manager Alex McDonald told Trade Week Radio that remained confident that the Lions and GWS would come to an amicable arrangement for the triple-premiership star either during Trade Week or afterwards.

? Mitch Clark's manager Colin Young said he was growing increasingly concerned that a deal with Fremantle - Clark's preferred target - was not going to happen this week, forcing his client to either remain in Brisbane or test his luck in the Pre-Season Draft.

? Sportsnewsfirst.com suggests that the Lions might seek 19 year old West Coast big man Scott Lycett as part of a possible trade involving Mitch Clark. The Clark trade remains one of the most talked about trades of the exchange period.

DAY FOUR: Thursday 13 October

?
Today (at 5pm) is the deadline for any deals involving trades for one of GWS' 'Mini Draft' picks. Gold Coast have already secured pick one, while Adelaide are expected to reach a deal for pick two.

? The Herald Sun believes that Clark will find his way to the Dockers and that the Lions could still be in the hunt for Adelaide's Kurt Tippett.

? Trade Week Radio broke the news on Thursday morning that Melbourne has appeared as a potential player in the Mitch Clark trade, making a late play for the services of the versatile 23 year-old.

? Melbourne Football Manager Tim Harrington confirms the club's interest in Clark, but said that "we obviously have strong competition in Fremantle."

? Sportsnewsfirst believes that a bargaining war was erupting between melbourne and Fremantle, with the Demons considered a chance to make a more attractive trade package offer to the Lions.

? Luke Power is expecting a move to the GWS to happen soon, according to The Herald Sun. "I’ve been told it’s under control so hopefully something is done soon so it gives me the opportunity to move on," Power told 3AW.

DAY FIVE: Friday 14 October

?
Still no resolution on the Mitch Clark situation. Rob Kerr tells SEN that Melbourne has offered it's first round selection (Pick No.12 overall) while Fremantle has now put forward its first round selection (Pick No.16 overall) as an exchange.

? Kerr also effectively rules out West Coast as a potential home for Clark, saying that the Eagles simply couldn't find a suitable trade.

? Mitch Clark's Manager Colin Young tells Trade Week Radio that his client considered a move to Melbourne for 24 hours before expressing his desire to head to Fremantle.

? Despite Clark's intentions to head to Fremantle, Young also told that there was a possibility that Clark could end up at Melbourne via the Pre-Season Draft.

? Fremantle issue a media release stating that Clark's preference is to join the Dockers via Trade Week. “I’ve been saying for quite some time now that I want to return home to WA and play for Fremantle. Despite the highly attractive offer Melbourne have put on the table, I remain firmly committed to returning to Perth to be with my family and to signing with Freo,” Clark said.

DAY SIX: Saturday 15 October

?
The Herald Sun reveals that Mitch Clark's refusal of Melbourne's offer could have dampened the Lions' bid to lure Kurt Tippett back home to Queensland. The Lions were allegedly intending on on-trading Pick 12 to Adelaide for their big forward.

? There were also suggestions that Fremantle had been working behind-the-scenes with Clark for a number of months to snare him as a Docker.

? There Lions continued negotiations with the Dockers in a hope to send Mitch Clark to his preferred home before Monday's trade deadline.

? In other developments, Liam Pickering revealed on Trade Week Radio that the Lions had made an approach to him regarding Hawthorn key position prospect Jordan Lisle.

? With the Mitch Clark deal still incomplete, it became less likely that the Lions would be able to snare Kurt Tippett from Adelaide.

DAY SEVEN: Sunday 16 October

?
Huge developments overnight as Clark effectively becomes a Demon. Melbourne made one more late play at Clark on Saturday afternoon, with the apparently West Australian-bound forward agreeing to the offer. Melbourne Tweet the deal is done at 11pm with details to be finalised on Sunday morning.

? The Lions also confirm their interest in Hawthorn's Jordan Lisle. Reports say a deal is close to being done with the Lions considering offering one of their three second round picks for the big Hawk.

? With the Mitch Clark trade complete, speculation surrounding Kurt Tippett's potential move back to Queensland intensified considering the Lions now had two first round draft picks at their disposal.

? The Lions maintain that they are interested in getting Bulldogs ruckman Ben Hudson, and remain confident that they can help Luke Power continue his career with GWS.

? The Lions advise that the Club simply won't use both its first round selections (Picks 8 and 16) in an attempt to get Kurt Tippett.

DAY EIGHT: Monday 17 October

? The final day of Trade Week is upon us and the Lions are still being linked to a few last minute deals. With a 2pm deadline, it was expected that a fair amount of activity would happen on Monday.

? Whispers surrounding Kurt Tippett continue, with the Adelaide Advertiser reporting that a deal on the final day is unlikely. The Lions have already ruled out trading both its first round picks for the Adelaide big man which was apparently the Crows' asking price.

? Hawthorn's Jordan Lisle officially becomes a Lion in exchange for the Club's priority selection (Pick No.29 overall) in the National Draft.

? Former Lions champion Luke Power is traded to GWS in exchange for the Giants' fourth round selection (Pick No.69 overall).

? Retired Western Bulldogs ruckman Ben Hudson officially becomes a Lions player in exchange for the Club's forth round draft selection (Pick No.70 overall).

? Local Queensland gun Dayne Zorko joined the Lions on what proved a busy morning. Zorko was initially selected by the Gold Coast SUNS as a Queensland Priority Selection and then traded to the Lions for Pick No.34. The Lions also upgraded from Pick No.52 to Pick No.47 as part of a complicated deal that also involved Melbourne.

? Trade Week officially ended at 2pm, with the Lions active in four last-day deals.
