Now, the Carlton Football Club and Hyundai Motor Company Australia are giving fans the chance to support the Children’s Cancer Centre Foundation while enjoying Carlton’s season opening game against Richmond at the MCG on Thursday 24th March.

In a major fundraiser for the Steven Walter Foundation (SWF), supporters can make a difference by donating to the volunteer ‘tin rattlers’ located on the concourse before the game. Hyundai Motor Company Australia, Carlton’s joint major sponsor, will also donate $1000 per goal scored by the Blues during the game.

The Steven Walter Foundation has an unwavering vision to save the lives of all children diagnosed with cancer and to eliminate or reduce significantly their suffering. Dedicated to the goal of 100% survival, the foundation has been supporting vital research through fundraising for over ten years.

“Without the support of the Carlton Football Club and the players, and of course our corporate sponsors Hyundai, this day could not happen,” said Susan Walter. “We are delighted that Hyundai and Carlton are fully supporting our fundraising activities and look forward to the support of the enthusiastic mid-week crowd expected to attend the MCG for the match.”

The Steven Walter Foundation (SWF) is a not-for-profit foundation with a strategic plan to develop a significant long term fundraising capacity to benefit childhood cancer research in Australia. The origins of SWF lay in the wishes of Steven Walter, a young man who succumbed to an eight year fight against cancer, in 2000 at the age of 19. In his final days Steven wrote a powerful letter to his family and friends asking them to raise money for childhood cancer research; “so that one day no other kid would have to go through what I’ve been through.” The work of SWF continues today to raise much needed vital funds to ensure their vision of 100% survival for children with cancer is achieved.
