ST KILDA captain Nick Riewoldt believes the Saints' Saturday night clash with Hawthorn looms as another crucial match for his side.

And the spearhead considers the Saints a good chance to claim their fourth straight win despite the Hawks being heavy favourites with the bookies.

"It's a game that not many people out there are going to expect us to win, and we're confident that if we can bring some really good, solid efforts to the table, we'll be a chance," he said on Tuesday.

"We're gathering a little bit of momentum but we're still building. We're pleased with the last three weeks, but it's been due to our effort.

"We've given ourselves the opportunity to play well but I think we've still got a lot of improvement to come in the remaining part of the season.

"It's a terrific time to come up against one of the best sides in the competition on the back of three pretty solid games."

The 25-year-old said the side will be wary of Lance Franklin despite more inaccuracy from the Hawks forward last week against the Swans, when he kicked four goals from 11 scoring shots.

He also said he could relate to Buddy's kicking yips, and "couldn't believe" the talented Hawk didn't make it into the best player votes for his Sunday performance.

"He's obviously one of the most dangerous players in the competition," he said.

"I think one thing that people don't have an appreciation for is how big he is. He's got me covered by another couple of inches and a couple of yards of pace as well.

"He's an incredibly hard guy to match up on and we'll be doing our best to stop him on Saturday night."
