Today’s training session will be very different from other training sessions.  Instead of donning the red and white Swans training jumpers, we will all be wearing our old junior club guernseys. I’m quite excited about it, as it will definitely bring back some good old memories. We did this a couple of years back and it was a highlight!

I will be wearing my Western Suburbs Magpies jumper that I wore when I played under 14’s and under 16’s in Sydney. I spent four years at the club and they have really supported me. It is always great heading back to see the talent coming through. We used to play at Picken Oval in Croydon Park, and they have just done some major improvements to the ground so the club is heading in the right direction.

It will be very interesting to see the different guernseys getting around the SCG. I’m hoping that Benny McGlynn and Josh Kennedy don’t wear their old Hawks jumpers as it might not go down too well seeing they are our opponents this weekend.

I am expecting Shane Mumford’s jumper to be fairly loose, as he tells me he used to run around at 130kgs, which is 20kgs heavier than his playing weight now. He could probably fit Jets under there and keep him warm -  not sure Lewis is enjoying the cold and wet weather Sydney has dished up lately.

Kirky’s jumper is probably the best of all. It is one of those lace-up guernseys you see when you watch footage from the old days. For the boys who have been too lazy or have forgotten, Roosy has kindly offered one of his four All Australian jumpers or six Victorian jumpers.

If you are free today and would like to see the boys in action, our training starts at 2pm at Lakeside Oval (opposite the SCG) - so come along!
