HIGHLY touted prospect Madison Prespakis has nominated for the Melbourne metro portion of the NAB AFL Women's Draft, paving the way for Carlton to select the midfielder at pick three.
The AFLW Draft gives players the choice of nominating the state in which they wish to play in, due to the part-time nature of the competition, with pre-season starting in November and the Grand Final played at the end of March.
Further to that, the introduction of Geelong has led to three zones within the Victorian draft pool: Victoria (Carlton, Collingwood, Geelong, Melbourne, North Melbourne and Western Bulldogs), Melbourne metro (five teams except the Cats) and Geelong.
With Geelong holding the first two picks in the draft, the Blues are best placed to select Prespakis with pick three. If Carlton chooses to draft another player, Collingwood is the next-best placed side to select her (with pick five).
The dynamic midfielder from Sunbury in Melbourne’s north-west has been Vic Metro's MVP for the past two years and was named co-player of the NAB AFLW Under-18 Championships with Vic Country's Nina Morrison.
The duo also shared the TAC Cup's best and fairest award.
Prespakis' biggest strength is her ability to win contested ball. She's strong in clearances, has an accurate kick and can move forward and kick goals.
She played six games for VFLW side Melbourne University this year and was named Uni's best on three occasions.
The NAB AFL Women's Combine is on October 2-3, while the draft will be held on October 23.
