With the event held at Arden Street for the first time in several years, supporters were given their first chance to see the new and elite $15M facility.
"It's great to see this many people here at Arden Street despite the conditions…there are a lot of smiles on people's faces and a lot of wonderment about the new facility. It's a good day for North Melbourne today and the local community," said Chief Executive Officer Eugene Arocca.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank every single person who joined us on Saturday for showing their support. The day is about the fans and we were delighted with the turn out and we thank them from the bottom of out hearts.”
Many headed to the indoor basketball court to seek shelter from the rain with face painting, premiership cup photos and merchandise sales all available.
When weather cleared up, crowds of North fans enjoyed rides and activities on the oval. Others waited patiently to grab an autograph from their favourite player with Brent Harvey and Drew Petrie the most popular, while rookie Majak Daw found himself in unfamiliar territory as a long queue also formed throughout the day for his signature.
The team presentation was another highlight with each player cutting through a swathe of cheering supporters on their way onto the main stage. The biggest roars were saved for youngster Jack Ziebell and coach Brad Scott.
State Education Minister and North member Bronwyn Pike made a surprise visit and couldn't hide her excitement.
"The players are so lucky to have so many proud, loyal North Melbourne supporters who will come out rain or shine to support you and to support this fantastic club," said Ms Pike.
North Melbourne will again welcome supporters to the club on Tuesday for the team’s final open training session ahead of Sunday's clash with Geelong. The players are expected to run out at around 3.30pm.
