THE Aboriginal Power Cup team from John Pirie Secondary School were visited by the Port Adelaide Football Club this week. The students were the latest to meet and hear from PAFC legends Gavin Wanganeen and Russell Ebert.

After hearing from Gav and Russ on the important topics of goal setting and career pathways, the students hit the oval for a few footy drills.

Wanganeen, a former Brownlow medallist and two-time premiership winner, was impressed with what he saw out on the track.

“The kids were switched on in the classroom, and on the field. No wonder the girls were last year’s champions,” Wanganeen said.

The girls’ team from Port Pirie are serious about defending their title in 2010, whilst the boys team is looking to improve their on-field performance and if they put into practice a few tricks taught by Russ on the day, then the finals are well within their reach.

The students from Pirie are currently working hard on designing their team guernsey for 2010, and are well on track for having it completed by the March 26th deadline.
