SWANS co-captain Leo Barry says he'll decide on his playing future over the next month with motivation and physical factors key in the 31-year-old defender's decision.

"I'm still feeling really good physically, so hopefully over the next month I'll have a pretty good indication," he said today.

A premiership winner in 2005 with the Swans, and famous for his game-saving last minute mark in that win over the Eagles, Barry has played 229 games since debuting for the Bloods in 1995.

"I've been playing quite a while and it's probably a balance now between having the motivation and a real desire and wanting to play is a huge part of it," he added.

A hamstring injury ruled the reliable defender out of six games in the back half of 2007, but Barry still finished equal seventh in the club's best and fairest.

The 184-cm defender has played all 15 games this season, averaging over 16 possessions and almost seven marks per game.

The Swans' have conceded 1142 points, the lowest in the league, with Barry, Marty Mattner and Tadhg Kennelly starring down back for most of the season.

"I'm still feeling really fresh and contributing to the team and I still feel I want to continue playing," Barry said.

"I'm pushing for a four year deal at the moment," he added with a smile.
